The Church Who Compromised

May 11, 2025    Pastor Kelsey Smith

In this powerful message, we're challenged to examine our faith in the face of cultural pressure. The church of Pergamum, commended for remaining true to Christ's name even amidst severe persecution, serves as both an inspiration and a warning. We're reminded that living in a spiritually hostile environment doesn't excuse compromise. The story of Antipas, roasted alive for his faith, highlights the real cost of discipleship. Yet, the message also cautions against subtle compromises, particularly in areas of sexual immorality and false teaching. We're urged to be vigilant, recognizing that even small concessions can lead to spiritual decline. The rewards promised - hidden manna and a white stone with a new name - remind us of the intimate relationship and eternal feast awaiting those who remain faithful. This message compels us to consider: In what areas of our lives are we compromising our faith? Are we standing firm on God's Word, even when it's culturally unpopular?
